The Cyprus University of Technology (ECoE) of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is a new, autonomous, and self-sustained centre which has been created as a result of upgrading the existing research labs of the university. CUT is a public university founded in 2003 which, although young, ranked in the top 301-350 universities of the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2018/19. The department of Agricultural sciences, Biotechnology and Food science (ABF) is the only agricultural department of the country attracting the highest funding with the vision to evolve and establish itself as an internationally recognised research and education centre in agricultural sciences, for the specific soil and climatic conditions of the South-eastern Mediterranean. The main objective of the sector of animal production is the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge and technologies needed for the rational and sustainable development of the agricultural production, within the knowledge-based bio-economy concept.
