Arid Regions Institute (IRA) Created under the term of the law No. 76/6 of 7 January 1976, the Arid Regions Institute (IRA) Medenine (Minister of Agriculture) is mandated to conduct research for the agricultural sector, the protection and conservation of natural resources, and the fight against desertification in arid and desert. The PAS-AGRO-PAS objectives are in harmony with its missions since one way to sustain rural development and potentiate knowledge-based local economies is by strengthening agro-pastoralism in Tunisia. The Higher Institute of Biotechnology of Sidi Thabet (ISBST) is one of UMA’s establishments with 70 teaching staff and 54 technical staff. ISBST offers third-level academic education, LMD and scientific research in Biotechnology applied to the para-pharmaceutical/pharmaceutical and food industries.
